Early in the morning on October 10, the Primary/Tertiary Mirror (M1M3) Cell was moved from CAID Industries, where it was manufactured, to the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab on the University of Arizona campus. The Cell traveled on a vehicle provided by Precision Heavy Haul (PHH); personnel from PHH, CAID, the Mirror Lab, and LSST Project members made sure the Cell was transported and delivered safely. A week later, on October 18, the M1M3 Mirror was also moved to the Mirror Lab on a PHH truck. The Mirror had been in storage in a hangar at Million Air since its fabrication, which was completed in 2015. Now that both the Cell and the Mirror are in the Lab, the next step is the installation of the Mirror onto the M1M3 Cell using the vacuum lifter. An LSST workshop organized by INAF (National Institute for Astrophysics) - Observatory of Palermo, and co-funded by INAF and University of Palermo - Department of Physics and Chemistry, was held October 8-10 in Palermo, Italy. The purpose of the event was to discuss the details of the LSST Cadence Optimization Call for White Papers before the November 30 deadline, and to review the science cases proposed thus far. Groups proposing science cases had an opportunity to present and lead discussions about their projects, reinforcing partnerships between the different LSST Science Collaborations and encouraging broader participation from interested collaborators from the U.S. and Europe.

Lauren Corlies joined the Education and Public Outreach (EPO) subsystem on October 15 as Astronomy Outreach Specialist. In this role Lauren will contribute to all aspects of the EPO program, acting as a liaison to the science community and ensuring the scientific validity of EPO deliverables.

Temprano en la mañana del 10 de octubre, la celda del espejo primario/terciario (M1M3) se trasladó de Industrias CAID, donde se fabricó, Lab. Mirror Richard F. Caris en el campus de la Universidad de Arizona. La celda viajó en un vehículo provisto por el Precision Heavy Haul (PHH); el personal de PHH, CAID, el laboratorio Mirror y los miembros del Proyecto LSST se aseguraron de que la Celda se transportara y se entregara de forma segura. Una semana más tarde, el 18 de octubre, el Espejo M1M3 también fue trasladado al Lab. Mirror en un camión de PHH. El espejo había estado almacenado en un hangar en Million Air desde su fabricación, el cual se completó el 2015. Ahora tanto la Celda como el Espejo están en el laboratorio, el siguiente paso es la instalación del Espejo en la Celda M1M3 usando una ventosa. Un taller de LSST organizado por la INAF (Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica) - Observatorio de Palermo, y cofinanciado por INAF y la Universidad de Palermo - Departamento de Física y Química, se realizó del 8 al 10 de octubre en Palermo, Italia. El propósito del evento fue discutir los detalles de la Convocatoria de Propuestas para la Optimización de Cadencia LSST antes de la fecha límite del 30 de noviembre y revisar los casos científicos propuestos hasta el momento. Los grupos que proponen casos de ciencia tuvieron la oportunidad de presentar y dirigir discusiones sobre sus proyectos, reforzando las alianzas entre las diferentes Colaboraciones de Ciencia LSST y fomentando una participación más amplia de los colaboradores interesados de los Estados Unidos y Europa.

Lauren Corlies se unió al subsistema de Educación y Difusión Pública (EPO) el 15 de octubre como Especialista en Difusión Astronómica. En este rol, Lauren contribuirá a todos los aspectos del programa EPO, actuando como enlace con la comunidad científica y asegurando la validez científica de los entregables de EPO.
