Ranpal K. Gill is the Communications Manager for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope where she leads the Communication Team efforts for LSST, assists the Director's Office with project-wide coordination, communication and reporting tasks. She holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science, has an MBA, is a Prince2 registered practitioner and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). In her 23 years of professional experience prior to joining LSST, Ranpal worked across a range of industries for companies such as ESA, Honda, Lloyds Bank and IBM. At LSST, she continues her mission of convincing scientists and engineers that planning is good for them.
Financial support for LSST comes from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through Cooperative Agreement No. 1258333, the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science under Contract No. DE-AC02-76SF00515, and private funding raised by the LSST Corporation. The NSF-funded LSST Project Office for construction was established as an operating center under management of the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA). The DOE-funded effort to build the LSST camera is managed by the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC).
