Past news for scientists, 2019-2024

2024 -- The LSST Science Camera arrives at Rubin Observatory [1].

2024 -- The first reflective coating was applied to the 8.4-meter primary/tertiary mirror [2].

2024 -- SLAC completes construction of the LSST Science Camera [3].

2023 -- Data Preview 0 [4]. In June 2023, the simulated DP0.3 data set [5] was released, which includes Solar System catalogs.

2023 -- Survey Strategy [6]. The Survey Cadence Optimization Committee (SCOC) [7] has released their Phase 2 Recommendations. See PSTN-055 [8].

2023 -- Early Science [9]. The plans for releasing Data Previews based on commissioning data; for doing Prompt processing in Year 1; and for the first Data Release are announced in RTN-011 [10].

2022 -- Data Preview 0 [4]. In June 2022, the simulated DP0.2 data set was released, which includes the results of difference-image analysis to enable time-domain science.

2022 -- Users Committee [11]. The first 12 members of the Rubin Users Committee have been identified and are available to be contacted by all users.

2021 -- LSST Science Collaborations [12]. The first version of the Rubin Observatory Science Collaboration Federation Charter [13] was released.

2021 -- Alert Brokers [14]. Seven brokers will receive direct access to the full stream, and two will operate downstream of the selected brokers.

2021 -- Data Policy. Rubin Observatory Operations announces the release of an updated version of the Rubin Observatory Data Policy, RDO-013 [15].

2020 -- LEO Satellites. The project has further investigated the effect of satellite constellations on Rubin Observatory observing, findings are summarized in Document-33805 [16].

2019 -- LSST Overview Paper [17]. The updated overview paper, “LSST: From Science Drivers to Reference Design and Anticipated Data Products” was published in the March 11, 2019 issue of The Astrophysical Journal.
