1. Coating Plant System - Bids due 11 September 2015 at 3:00 PM (MST)

The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (“AURA”), on behalf of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) Project Office, announces the opportunity for qualified vendors to propose on the fabrication of the LSST Coating Plant System. This opportunity will require the design and fabrication of a complex coating chamber capable of coating the LSST telescope mirrors: the large M1M3 mirror located in its mirror support cell and the M2 mirror located inside the coating chamber. The coatings will be deposited on the mirrors using DC magnetron sputtering deposition. This opportunity includes also the main equipment for the cleaning and stripping station to prepare the mirrors before coating. Vendors interested in bidding on this procurement shall follow the bid instructions included in the RFP package, which is by contacting the LSST Contracts Officer.

 

2. LSST M1M3 Mirror Cell - Bids due 14 August 2015 at 3:00 PM (MST)

The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. (“AURA”), on behalf of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) Project Office, announces the opportunity for qualified vendors to propose on the fabrication of the LSST M1M3 Mirror Cell. This opportunity will require the fabrication of a large, complex structural weldment and the engineering, design, and manufacturing of a cover and other equipment required to vacuum test the assembly. Vendors interested in bidding on this procurement shall follow the bid instructions included in the RFP package available by contacting the LSST Contracts Officer.

Financial support for LSST comes from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through Cooperative Agreement No. 1258333, the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science under Contract No. DE-AC02-76SF00515, and private funding raised by the LSST Corporation. The NSF-funded LSST Project Office for construction was established as an operating center under management of the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA).  The DOE-funded effort to build the LSST camera is managed by the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC).
